Date
June 2025
Location
Horokiwi Quarry, Lower Hutt, Wellington NZ
Client
Fulton Hogan NZ
Tascon was engaged to deliver site retaining works and a significant portion of the foundation construction for a new asphalt plant at Horokiwi, Wellington.
The scope included the construction of a Mass Stabilised Earth (MSE) retaining wall along the front edge of the site, measuring approximately 65 linear metres in length and up to 7 metres in height. The works required around 2,000 m³ of excavation, with approximately 2,500 m³ of AP65 placed and compacted as engineered backfill behind the wall.
In addition to the retaining works, Tascon completed the supply and placement of approximately 500 m³ of structural concrete foundations for the new plant. This included concrete beams, pads, slabs on grade, and column foundations, all constructed to meet tight tolerances and programme requirements.
Delivered under challenging site conditions, with stringent health and safety requirements and a compressed programme, the project aligned perfectly with Tascon’s core strengths — technical civil construction, efficient delivery, and dependable outcomes on complex sites.
